Single elimination

Updated

In a single elimination bracket, teams are eliminated after one loss until one team is left. Tourny builds the bracket for you, and you can add placement games to rank more than just the winner.

How to set up a single elimination bracket

  1. Open the Manage tab and select Format, then click Select format.
  2. Choose Single elimination and continue.
  3. Optionally, choose statistics to track when results are submitted (for example, kills, digs, and aces for volleyball).
  4. Confirm your format.
  5. Open Teams and click Add teams.
  6. Open Rounds and create your bracket:
    • Turn on seeding to spread your strongest teams evenly through the bracket.
    • Add placement games, such as a third-place match between the semifinal losers.
  7. Click Save.

All bracket games appear in the Schedule tab, and the bracket is shown in the Standings tab. Next, schedule your games.

Single elimination FAQs

Q: What if I don't have a power-of-two number of teams?

A: That's fine. Tourny builds the bracket for any number of teams, adding early rounds (like pre-quarterfinals) where needed.

Q: Can I track stats other than the score?

A: Yes. When setting up your format, select the statistics you want to track. They'll appear when results are submitted.

Q: Can I give teams a second chance?

A: Use double elimination, where teams are only eliminated after their second loss.
