Transition between rounds
Updated
If your format has more than one round, like pool play followed by playoffs, you confirm each round's results before teams move on. Tourny then fills the next round with the teams that advance, based on the advancement rules you set up in Rounds.
How to move teams to the next round
- Make sure every game in the current round has a result. If a game wasn't played, use Cancel game or Forfeit game to close it out.
- Go to the Standings tab.
- You'll see a prompt like Ready to start the playoffs? Click the confirm button, such as Confirm bracket (or Confirm pools before power pools).
- Review the teams that advance. If any teams are tied, resolve the ties.
- Confirm to move the teams into the next round.
Your event's Dashboard also shows when a round is complete and the next one is ready.
Round transition FAQs
Q: What happens if I don't confirm the results of a round?
A: The next round stays empty. Teams can't move on until you confirm the round.
Q: Can I change a result after teams have moved on?
A: You can, but changing an earlier result resets the rounds that follow, because Tourny recalculates standings and advancement. Double-check the standings before you confirm.
Q: How are teams placed in the next round?
A: By the advancement rules you chose in Rounds, such as the top 2 teams from each pool. See Round robin with playoffs.
