Double elimination
Updated
In a double elimination bracket, teams are only eliminated after their second loss. A team that loses in the upper bracket (also called the winners bracket) drops to the lower bracket (the losers bracket) for a second chance, so every team plays at least two games.
How to set up a double elimination bracket
- Open the Manage tab and select Format, then click Select format.
- Choose Double elimination and continue.
- Optionally, choose statistics to track when results are submitted.
- Confirm your format.
- Open Teams and click Add teams.
- Open Rounds and create your bracket. Review the preview, and swap first-round matchups if needed.
- Click Save.
All bracket games appear in the Schedule tab, and both brackets are shown in the Standings tab. Next, schedule your games.
Double elimination FAQs
Q: Can I use double elimination for playoffs after pool play?
A: Yes. Choose the Round robin to double elimination format. It's set up the same way as round robin with playoffs.
Q: Do I need to move teams into the lower bracket myself?
A: No. When a result is submitted, the winner and loser automatically move to their next games.
