Build your format from rounds

A format on Tourny is a sequence of rounds: round robin pools, single or double elimination brackets, Swiss ladders and custom brackets. Combine them to match how your event really runs.

Common combinations

Round robin into playoffs is the most popular. Organizers also run pools into power pools into playoffs, Swiss ladders into playoffs, and pool play into several brackets like championship and consolation.

A format per division

Each division can have its own format, so younger age groups can play a round robin while older ones play into a bracket, all in the same event.

Questions organizers ask

What is the best format for a tournament?

Round robin with playoffs is the most common choice: every team gets several pool games, then the top teams play a bracket. Pure brackets are faster but some teams only play once or twice. Swiss ladders give close matchups when there isn't time for a full round robin.

Can I combine formats in one tournament?

Yes. Chain rounds together, like pools into power pools into a bracket, or a Swiss ladder into playoffs. Tourny moves teams between rounds using your advancement rules.

Can different divisions use different formats?

Yes. Each division has its own format, schedule and standings.

Does Tourny support leagues?

Yes. Leagues use a season format that runs over several weeks.
